What’s the booking process like for tattoos?

Simple. You’ve got ideas, we’ve got the ink.

Book your consultation online through our form or email info@grimstudios.ca Once you've messaged us, we’ll talk about your design, placement, and any other details that’ll make this piece uniquely yours, for most simple tattoos we can book online but for more complex or larger custom tattoos or coverups, we will need a consultation. We do need a general idea of what style and subject matter you want so we can match you to the perfect artist in the studio as each artist has unique characteristics, art styles and specialties.

Can I get a tattoo while I’m on my period?

Absolutely.
Your body, your rules. If you're feeling good and your flow isn’t a horror show, get inked. The only difference is that your pain tolerance may shift, so take care of yourself and hydrate!

Do you do cover-up tattoos?

Hell yeah, we do.
If you've got a tattoo you regret, we can help turn it into something you'll love. Let’s be real—no one’s perfect, and sometimes tattoos need a little redemption. Schedule a consultation and let’s work some magic.

we also offer laser tattoo removal so we can remove the tattoo completely on all ink colors and all skin tones or even just lighten it enough to have endless options for coverups!

What should I wear to my appointment?

Wear something that makes you feel badass but comfy
Wear something you can comfortably move in, and something that'll allow easy access to the area being tattooed. Don’t worry, we won’t judge if you show up in sweatpants and a hoodie - it's what we do when we get tattooed too.

How much will my tattoo cost?

It depends.
We’re not a fast-food joint. Every tattoo is unique, and so is the pricing. We charge by the piece or by the hour, depending on size, detail, and placement. The price will be discussed upfront in your consultation. No surprises here.

Question 6

How do I care for my new tattoo?

Accepted Answer

Avoid touching, scratching, or picking at your new tattoo. Keep it clean, let it breathe, and moisturize with proper aftercare products. Keep it out of the sun. We sell aftercare products in-store for your convenience.

Can I get a piercing at GRIM?

Yes! Piercings that’ll make you feel fierce.
We do everything from lobe to industrial and beyond. Our piercers are experienced and use sterile, high-quality jewelry for a smooth, safe experience. Book your appointment online and let’s get that piercing perfected!

Got a tattoo you regret or need removed for personal reasons? We offer laser tattoo removal at Reth-Ink, inside GRIM Studios. Our expert techs use safe, effective lasers to remove tattoos with minimal scarring. Trust us, we’re good at erasing the past.

Do you offer any discounts or promotions?

We’re not big on discounts, but we’re all about rewards. 
If you’re a loyal customer or book multiple sessions, we have a loyalty and rewards program to save money.  Follow us on social media for pop-up deals and specials.

Why is tattoo aftercare important?

Neglecting aftercare can lead to infection, fading, or worse. Following the care plan ensures your tattoo heals properly and stays vibrant. Trust us, it's worth the effort.

Can I bring a friend to my appointment?

Accepted Answer

Sure, but they’re not the ones getting the tattoo.
We love a good support squad, but we do ask that friends and family keep it low-key during the session and a max of one at a time. Tattoo time is a personal journey, and too many people can make the space feel crowded.
Also, don't let your friend or guest tell you to change or move your tattoo, it's YOUR body and YOUR tattoo.

Do you accept walk-ins?

Sometimes, but we don’t recommend it.
We do accept walk-ins if the schedule allows, but we highly suggest booking in advance to secure your spot. We’d hate for you to show up, all hyped, and have to leave empty-handed.

Question 14

How do I heal my tattoo?

Follow these instructions to heal your new tattoo as fast and easily as possible!

What to Expect
 
Some swelling, redness, bruising and/or tenderness
For the first day, blood & secretions of a clear or ink coloured film or "slime"
Scabbing, cracking, dry skin, flaking after a few days
Itching & irritation 
Clothing & bedding may stick to the tattoo for the first few days

What to do
​
Leave bandage on for at least 24 hours and up to three days (as long as bandage seal over tattooed skin is 100% in tact - IF the seal is broken, IMMEDIATELY remove the tattoo *see below*)
Remove in hot shower, the heat and steam help loosen the wrap
Wash the tattoo thoroughly with unscented soap and water (NEVER use scented soaps, goats milk or any other type of cleaning product) 
Dry with paper towel or allow tattoo to air dry
Always wash hands prior to touching the tattoo & keep the tattoo clean 
Apply unscented moisturizer after 24 hours or when the tattoo starts to look dry & tight. Moisturize 1-2 times a day maximum
Do NOT over moisturize
Lightly slap the tattoo if it becomes itchy, never scratch or pick at the tattoo
You CAN shower with the wrap on the tattoo, as long as the seal is 100% over the tattooed skin
Stay Healthy: the healthier you are, the easier your body can heal 
Keep bedding & clothing clean. Try to wear loose fitting clothing in a soft fabric 
The less you do to the tattoo the better
If pimples appear, reduce the amount of moisturizer you are applying and/or use a non oil based product
Contact your doctor IMMEDIATELY if you develop a fever, the tattoo becomes hot to the touch, you start to develop spider web like veins coming from the tattoo, shortness of breath, dizziness or blurred vision

What to avoid

NEVER Pick at or scratch the tattoo
Do NOT soak or submerge the tattoo: avoid baths, long showers, saunas, hot tubs, pools and natural bodies of water until ALL scabs are gone. If you have to go into water, you can purchase additional waterproof wraps from GRIM Studios
Avoid the sun & sun tanning - especially when a tattoo is fresh. UV rays cause tattoos to fade
 NEVER use products like Vaseline, coconut/almond/natural oils, essential oils, scented moisturizers, goats milk, Dettol, Betadine, Hydrogen Peroxide, baby oil, sea salts, epsom salts etc on a fresh tattoo
Do not over moisturize or clean
Do not allow jewelry or clothing to rub against the tattoo until completely healed
Do not use perfumes or makeup on the tattoo until completely healed

Question 15

Do I need a consultation before booking a tattoo?

Consultations are recommended for custom tattoos, large-scale pieces, or cover-ups. Smaller tattoos and flash designs may not require a consultation. Our artists are happy to advise what’s best for your idea.

GRIM Studios works across a wide range of tattoo styles including blackwork, fine line, illustrative, traditional, neo-traditional, realism, and custom conceptual work. Each artist has their own specialties and portfolio.

Question 17

Are your artists licensed and experienced?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All artists at GRIM Studios are professionally trained, and experienced. We follow strict health and safety standards and operate in compliance with local and provincial regulations.
There is no "licensing" in Ontario for tattoo artists.
